Reimagining Performance for a New Era

Katherine DuBois is a native Washingtonian theatre-kid turned performer, director, filmmaker, and multidisciplinary creator. Her work has moved across theatre, film, dance, music, and visual storytelling, with a particular interest in the relationship between performance, design, and the imaginative world. An award-winning documentary filmmaker, her films often contain theatrical mediums and heightened design.

Katherine has studied at institutions including Interlochen Center for the Arts, Ithaca College in New York and London, the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center’s National Theater Institute, the Russian State Institute of Performing Arts in St. Petersburg, the Suzuki Company of Toga in Japan, the Imagined Life Studio in Hollywood, and Odin Teatret in Denmark. She was also a company member with D.C.’s Synetic Theater for twelve years. Her training spans classical and contemporary acting, devised theatre, pantomime, corporeal mime, dance, acting for the camera, and rigorous and radical ensemble practices.

Katherine returned to her native Washington to develop POWER. Its continuing development brings her into conversation with directors and designers working across theatrical traditions, exploring how actors inhabit, and help compose, the worlds created around them.
